The Happiest Time of the Year in Downtown Biloxi

When “the most wonderful time of the year” fades, many regions across the country are left with gray skies and frigid temperatures. Fortunately, here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the end of the holiday season signals the start of “the happiest time of the year,” and downtown Biloxi knows how to RAISE YOUR PULSE!

On the Coast, the happiest time of the year occurs in late winter when king cake season (a.k.a. Mardi Gras), oyster season, and crawfish season converge.

Downtown Biloxi offers numerous options to indulge in all three. The season kicks off with the Epiphany or Twelfth Night celebration, marking the arrival of the three wisemen and their gifts to Baby Jesus. The Gulf Coast Carnival Association launched king cake season with their annual Twelfth Night celebration on January 6 and with it came the halfway mark of oyster season. It’s hard to top the duo of fresh oysters and king cake, but once the crawfish are harvested towards the end of Carnival Season, the happiest time of the year kicks into full swing!

Check out the lists below to find variations of each treat around downtown Biloxi. The Happiest Time of the Year is a limited-time engagement, so be sure to get out and try as many king cake, oysters, and crawfish options as you can before they disappear for another year!
