The Jefferson Davis Players of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will present “The Glass Menagerie” February 20-23 at the Jefferson Davis Campus Fine Arts Auditorium.  Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. February 20-22 and at 2 p.m. on February 23.

Five students from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College were selected as semifinalists for the highly selective and competitive Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. They are Edgar Marquez of Gautier, Austin Baldwin of D’Iberville, Ciara Brewer of Lucedale, Gloria Giddes of Gulfport and Katelyn Winstead of Ocean Springs.

The Fine Arts Gallery at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County Campus announces the opening of the exhibit “ZENOSYNE,” featuring the 3-D ceramic work of Josh Edgar. The show will open on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 12:15 p.m., with a reception and artist talk in the Fine Arts Gallery.  

The Willis H. Lott Learning Resources Center (LRC) at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston Campus has partnered with the Mississippi Humanities Council to host a family literacy program. The weekly programs will be held on the second floor of LRC each Tuesday at 5:30 p.m., from Jan. 28 to March 10.

The MGCCC Jackson County Fine Arts Gallery is proud to announce the opening of the exhibit “Drawn To Whimsy: The World of Edgar Parker.” The exhibit is offered at no charge and will be open to the public from until Friday, December 13.

High school seniors are invited to attend the Presidential Reception for Emerging Coast Scholars on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Hospitality Resort Management Center in Biloxi. The event will highlight the new Mississippi Gulf Coast Emerging Scholars Partnership and give students and their parents information about scholarships and honors programs.

The new Mississippi Gulf Coast Emerging Scholars program was unveiled on November 1 during a special event at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Hospitality Resort Management Center in Biloxi. 

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College has been recognized as a 2019 Great College to Work For®. This year, 236 institutions participated in the survey, with 85 institutions recognized. Of those, 25 were two-year institutions.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College biology classes at the Jackson County Campus are participating in the Rooted in Rare Birthday Celebration for Willow on Saturday, October 5, from 9-11 a.m. at the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center. The event benefits the United MSD (Multiple Sulfatase Deficiency) Foundation

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Jefferson Davis Food Pantry and Professional Closet on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in front of the food pantry, located in the Eula Switzer Allied Health Building. The pantry and closet will provide food and other items to students in need, along with professional attire they may need for interviews, academic competitions and other events.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College students Shanna Cramer and Lauren Powell were awarded the 2019 Merit Health – Biloxi Board of Trustees Full-Tuition Scholarship. Each student will have their tuition covered for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Hannah Summerlin will return to Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for her sophomore year able to speak, read and write Chinese.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College art instructor Marc Poole won the Award of Distinction at the American Society of Aviation Artists

The prestigious award was offered to 61 students nationally, from more than 1,500 applications.
