Music, delicious treats, and lots of fun! Oh my! To find these wonderful and exciting things, you won’t be following a yellow brick road as Dorothy and her pals did in “The Wizard of Oz.” For this very fun and family friendly experience, the brick road is red. You are cordially invited to the Red Brick Roads Music and Arts Festival August 26-27 in Old Towne Clinton.
“We’re so excited to once again bring all the fun for the family, great music, and many delicious food choices at the festival,” Tara Lytel of Main Street Clinton said. “This is our 6th year of the festival, and it just seems to get bigger and better each year.”
The festival began as a combination of two separate events in Clinton and Canton. Partnered with the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, the city played host to their own event held in the Main Street District, and Canton hosted the Firefly Festival each year. But in a great meeting of the minds, the cities decided to make the festivals even bigger and better.
“The Chamber of Commerce of Clinton and the Chamber of Canton brought up the idea to combine the two festivals to make it an even bigger and more exciting event for our guests,” Lytel said.
If you love great music, you are definitely in for a treat. The Festival begins Friday night with a Songwriter Showcase, featuring Sam Mooney, Sawn Chambliss, and Ryan Warnick. Headlining the show will be the group Happy Landing.
On Saturday, the music begins at 3 pm with Dem Bones, followed by Tatum Henry, then Red and the Revelers, The Brook and the Bluff will then take the stage before Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience are the headliners for the evening.
Although the music starts a little later in the afternoon on Saturday, the gates will be open with some of the most skilled and talented artists, cooks, and craftsmen selling their goods at the Craft Market from 12-6 pm. There will be lots of great paintings, photography, pottery, arts and crafts, delicious food, and much more. Festival go-ers might even find an early Christmas present or memento of the event.
Plus, there will be activities for the kids, painting, games, and a whole lot of fun. There is surely something for the whole family to enjoy.
At 3:30, the Home Brew Competition begins. Even though home brewing has been an art form for many years, it has grown in popularity, and at the Red Brick Roads festival, you can show off your craftsmanship and compete to see who makes the best home brew.
“The Main Street Clinton, the Clinton Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Clinton are so very excited for this fun event,” Lytel said. “It’s one of the top events that our guests look forward to every year.”
In 2019, the event attracted over 5,000 guests and visitors to the charming town of Clinton for a fun and eventful weekend that has attractions that everyone in the family will enjoy.
“We’d love to see everyone come out and have a great time,” Lytel said. “This is truly a fun, family friendly event that everyone will find something that love. If you’ve never been, then definitely come visit us this year. We’d love to see everyone having a good time.”
