A new Kiwanis club opened in the Vancleave area to give community members the opportunity to help kids.

The Kiwanis Club of Vancleave meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at the Jackson County School District Child Nutrition Center located at 13724 Highway 57 in Vancleave. And on April 25th at the First Baptist Church, the club will host its Charter Celebration! This event will give the club the opportunity to introduce the club leadership, members and anticipated service to the community.

The club was formed by Vancleave residents, Dr. Scott Johnson and Rogena Woods Mitchell to help meet the needs of children in Vancleave. “Kiwanis clubs provide a great opportunity to meet new friends who believe in serving their communities, network with business professionals and make a significant impact on the community through volunteering,” said Club Opener, Rogena Woods Mitchell “Kids need Kiwanis, in our community and in communities around the world, so they can grow up in a world where they feel happy, healthy, safe and loved.”

“We understand the changing needs of today’s busy volunteers, and encourage members to give time when they can, whether that’s at a service project or at a meeting,” said Club President, Scott Johnson. “We hope that men and women of all ages will join us and help make a difference for children in our community.”

Those interested in membership can contact Dr. Scott Johnson, Club President at [email protected] or httpss://kiwanisofvancleave.portalbuzz.com/.
