Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College will hold its annual Clem Dellenger Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, October 25, 2024, at the scenic Hickory Hill Country Club in Gautier. This event, a key part of MGCCC’s Homecoming week celebrations, serves as the major fundraising event for the college’s Bulldog Club, with proceeds benefiting student-athletes across 12 intercollegiate sports.

The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Participants will play in a two-person scramble format. Registration is $100 per person, and individuals can be paired with a partner if they don’t already have a teammate. Hole sponsorships are available for $100, and all sponsorships are tax-deductible.

The registration fee covers donuts and coffee prior to tee-off, as well as lunch after the 18-hole tournament. All participants will receive prizes, making the day not only competitive but rewarding for all who take part.

For more information or to register for the tournament, visit mgcccbulldogs.com/dellenger.

The tournament was established in honor of Clem Dellenger, a Biloxi native and longtime Gulf Coast resident who had a deep connection to MGCCC and the local athletic community. A graduate of Notre Dame High School in Biloxi and Tulane University, Dellenger excelled in both football and baseball during his college years. He went on to coach for 25 years at MGCCC, serving as part of the coaching staff under Coach George Sekul, and played a crucial role in the Bulldogs’ 1971 National Championship win. Later, Dellenger served as assistant principal at St. John High School in Gulfport from 1992 to 2000.

Dellenger passed away on September 16, 2007, and was posthumously inducted into the MGCCC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. The tournament honors his legacy of dedication to student-athletes and his impact on the community.

In his honor, proceeds from the Clem Dellenger Memorial Golf Tournament go directly to the MGCCC Bulldog Club, which supports Gulf Coast’s student-athletes and their pursuit of excellence in academics and athletics. MGCCC fans are invited to join the Bulldog Club and further support MGCCC athletics by visiting mgcccbulldogs.com/bulldogclub.

The tournament is part of MGCCC’s week-long Homecoming festivities, with Homecoming Day taking place on Saturday, October 26, 2024. For more information about Homecoming activities, visit mgccc.edu/homecoming.
