Local Merchants Offer “Wish List” Registry for the Holidays

PASCAGOULA—Everyone knows about the dreaded gift that just doesn’t seem right, but like Ralphie in the bunny suit, there is no getting away without a gracious smile of thanks. But shopping during this year’s Main Street Pascagoula Holiday Open House, merchants are trying to make sure the gift under the tree is exactly the right size, shape and color!

This year’s Holiday Open House stretches from the Main Street Flagship and Market Districts with a special twist this year.  Merchants will be allowing guests to create a holiday gift registry or store wish list for buyers to peruse before purchasing.  Call it what you want, but it can be the difference between faking a smile and being truly excited when opening gift boxes.

Pascagoula’s Holiday Open House runs from November 6 to 8, as the Main Street Districts officially kick off the season during regular business hours. Main Street Executive Director Susannah Northrop said participating businesses will be filled with holiday cheer, festive decor, special deals, and seasonal treats to build holiday spirit.

“Participating businesses throughout the Flagship and Market Districts will be decked in holiday displays and offer early gift shopping opportunities,” Mrs. Northrop said.  “Some businesses will offer festive hospitality and holiday snacks along with promotions and giveaways.”

The Flagship District includes those businesses located in the Delmas and Krebs Avenue area, while the Market District includes those businesses that call Market Street home. Among those businesses participating include Patsy Blu Gifts and Accessories located at the south end of Market Street. Shoppers making a $200 or more purchase will walk away with a holiday tote. Lee Tracy on Delmas Avenue is offering a gift with $100 purchases along with mystery discounts and chances to win a holiday gift basket!

Sara Hollis, owner of Patsy Blu, has been working to transform her shop to usher in the upcoming holidays.  The shop includes a wide variety of girls and women’s clothing, novelty items, jewelry, gifts, and local fan folklore. For those shoppers searching for unique nutcracker gifts, check out the nutcracker corner.

“Our best-selling items are the nutcracker items, Pascagoula local shirts and pottery, and the new fall and holiday clothes,” Mrs. Hollis said, making note that this is only the first of her holiday events. “You know, we live to keep the local coastal flair.”

For a complete list of participating businesses and special holiday offers, follow Main Street Pascagoula on Facebook.
