Pascagoula is again excited to offer Downtown for the Holidays – a great community event for all ages – on Friday, Dec. 6 from 5 to 9 p.m.

During the event, local vendors and businesses are open late, showing off their wares to the attendees. The event will also include carriage rides, Radio Flyer rides, performances by children’s groups, and Santa arriving on, you guessed it, a motorcycle.

This year, children will be able to write a letter to Santa at Santa’s village and mail it to him from there. Anchor Square also will be adorned as winter wonderland, and the downtown streets will be filled with holiday lights and festive tunes.

Another new thing for 2019 will be that the king, queen and school administrator of the year will each get to ride in the parade, representing the Krewe of Little Rascals. They will be riding on Ladder 1 – the first fire truck that Pascagoula ever had. This firetruck is retired but used on special occasions.

This year’s chairmain of the event will be OurMSHome’s very own Jamey Foster.

“We are looking forward to this year’s event,” he said. “The synergy that Main Street Pascagoula has created with the community is exciting. Everyone from United Way to M&M Bank to the City of Pascagoula have really stepped up to make this year’s Downtown for the Holidays an event for all to enjoy and experience unity in Pascagoula.”

Main Street did a pre-order of Downtown for the Holidays t-shirts this year. A limited quantity will be available for purchase at the event.

Find more information about the event and Main Street Pascagoula on Facebook.
