    Hattiesburg ZooBoo Returns October 21–30

Halloween is just around the corner, and if you are looking for something fun to do to celebrate, ZooBoo should do it!

It’s always on our list, so we definitely enjoy it! I was driving by the zoo today, and they have been working hard to prepare for it, as I saw a lot of large skeletons along the railroad tracks in the zoo. The one below is especially large!

While this is not a trick-or-treating event, costumes are still encouraged. ZooBoo will feature Halloween-themed food, drinks, decorations, and activities. There may even be a dance party like there was at last year’s event!

ZooBoo will happen on the grounds of the Hattiesburg Zoo from October 21 through October 30. The nightly fun will go from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets cost $13 in advance for those 2 years of age and above. Tickets can also be purchased at the gate for $15, but only if available, as capacity is limited. It is free for children younger than the age of 2. Tickers can be purchased here. Annual passes do not apply.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind. Adults are asked to not wear masks unless there is a health-related reason for doing so. However, masks that are used to prevent the spread of COVID-19 can be worn. ZooBoo does still happen regardless of the weather unless there is severe weather. If this is the case, tickets will be refunded or can be moved to another night.

Here’s another tip: Get there early especially if you want to try to get tickets at the gate! For more information on the zoo, you can visit their website,

I am married, and I also have a 4-year-old daughter. I earned my Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi, and I have been teaching psychology classes over the past 10 years. As a professor and as a parent, I grew to love learning anything about child development. I recently turned that into a passion for helping other parents by starting my own blog at http://www.nurturingtamra.com.
