JGRLS Launches MessageBee Patron Communication Platform
Effective February 1
Pascagoula, MS. — JGRLS announces the launch of MessageBee, a new all-in-one patron communication platform that consolidates library messaging into a single, streamlined system. MessageBee is effective February 1.
The platform allows JGRLS to communicate with patrons through SMS text messages and email notifications, improving clarity, consistency, and accessibility across all channels.
MessageBee supports two categories of communication: Notices, including holds, reminders, overdue alerts, and card expiration messages; and Marketing, such as newsletters, branch updates, holiday hours, and special announcements.
“By replacing multiple messaging systems with a single interface, MessageBee reduces complexity for staff while enhancing the patron experience through timely, easy-to-understand communications,” said Jeanne Damiano, assistant director of CMS/IT.
Jackson-George Regional Library System Libraries Closed for Mardi Gras
Jackson/George County, MS — All branches of the Jackson-George Regional Library System (JGRLS) will be closed on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, in observance of Mardi Gras.
Libraries will reopen on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, and resume regular operating hours.
Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of the library’s digital resources, including eBooks, audiobooks, and online databases, which remain available 24/7 through the JGRLS website during the closure.

East Central Public Library Hosts Creative Valentine Craft Program
East Central, MS —East Central Public Library invites the community to a fun and creative program, Life Is Like a Box of Chocolates, on Tuesday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m.
Participants of all ages will create decorative faux chocolate boxes, perfect for sharing with someone special. While the chocolates won’t be edible, creativity is highly encouraged, with plenty of room for unique designs and personal flair.
The program is open to all ages; children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. East Central Public Library Invites Families to Join “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” Challenge
HURLEY, MS – The East Central Public Library is excited to launch the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program, designed to inspire a lifelong love of reading in young children. This free, year-round challenge encourages families to read together and track their progress—one book at a time.
The program is open to children from birth to age 5. Even repeated books count, and families can earn a small prize for every 100 books read. After reaching the 1,000-book milestone, participants will receive a special prize to celebrate their achievement.

The Friends of the Vancleave Public Library invite community members to participate in a Library T-Shirt Art Contest, giving artists the opportunity to have their original design featured on the official library T-shirt.
Participants are encouraged to create artwork inspired by their favorite book. The winning design will be announced during the Spring Festival on April 4, where the artist may claim a free T-shirt featuring their artwork. Library T-shirts will also go on sale beginning April 4.

VANCLEAVE, MS — The Friends of the Vancleave Public Library invite readers of all ages to participate in the Ultimate Reading Contest, beginning February 1.
