We’re one week away from Valentine’s Day. Whether you are planning a traditional night out or looking for something unique to do with your significant other next week to show them how much you care, Jackson County has many options available. Whatever rings true for your relationship, it’s important to plan it now.

    Dinner Out

For a traditional dinner out for Valentine’s Day, there are many great options in our area that provide the romantic atmosphere and delectable menu for the perfect date night. And our location on the water provides an opportunity for dining with a view in many areas.

Valentine’s is traditionally a busy night, though, so it’s a good idea to make reservations now. Here are some local ideas for a great night out:

Kenny Ward’s Prime Steaks & Gulf Seafood

Kenny Ward’s is located on Bienville Boulevard in Ocean Springs. They are now accepting reservations for Feb. 14, and this special meal will include a house glass of wine or martini, an appetizer to share, a soup or salad, an entree with a side, and a dessert from the dessert bar. They will also have a special martini menu available. The meal is $79 per person + tax & gratuity. You can see the menu here, and call 228-818-4505 for reservations.

    Anthony’s Under the Oaks

For a dinner with a view, try Anthony’s Under the Oaks – located on Washington Avenue in Ocean Springs and tucked next to the Fort Bayou drawbridge shaded by live oaks. The elegant setting with an amazing view is combined with delicious food that provides a special occasion atmosphere that won’t break the bank. Call (228) 872-4564 to make reservations. You can see more about them on Facebook.

    Brady’s Steaks & Seafood

For another amazing dinner with an amazing view, consider Brady’s Steaks & Seafoods, located on Magnolia Street in Pascagoula. Dinner is prepared fresh daily, and they offer specialty plates and local favorites with a Brady’s twist. The wraparound deck gives a great view of the sunset and waters of the Pascagoula River. They’re planning a dinner for two option for that night. For more information, check their Facebook page.

    Garden Grille & Bar

The Garden Grille & Bar, located in the Hilton Garden Inn in Pascagoula, is offering a special dinner for $40 each on Valentine’s Day. Each person will receive a choice of tomato basil soup or crawfish bisque, a house garden salad, a 12 ounce ribeye with crab cake and remoulade sauce, grilled vegetables, roasted potatoes, handmade roles, a sweetheart dessert trio. Champagne and house wines will be available for $5 a glass. Reserve your spot today at 228-762-7182, option 2. Find more information on Facebook.

    For Nature Lovers

For something more traditional,  yet simple, forego the big dinner, grab something small, and head to one of the beach areas for a sunset view. In Pascagoula, you can grab a poboy at Bozo’s and then head to Pascagoula Beach Park or the pier. In Ocean Springs, take a Valentine’s picnic of your favorites to Fort Maurepas or the pier there as well.

    Eco-Tours of South Mississippi

If you and your date love to be outside, take advantage of the customizable nature of Eco-Tours of South Mississippi and schedule a sunset motorboat or kayak trip. Visit their website for reservation information and more tour details.

    Creative Night Out

Paint and Sip at BYO Brush Studio

For the creative couple, try something a little different with a creative Valentine’s Day. BYO Brush Studio in Ocean Springs is hosting a Valentine’s Date Night painting event. With one reservation, you can get two canvases to paint on – one for you and one for your date. And, you bring your own drinks to the event, so you can have your favorites. Make reservations on their website.

    Hammer & Stain

Celebrate with your significant other at Hammer & Stain in Gautier for a guided DIY Workshop for Valentine’s Day. Reservations are suggested, but there will be walk-in projects available until they run out or until 6:15 p.m. at the latest. The workshops are BYOB and snacks are also allowed. They have numerous designs to choose from, and you choose your stain and paint colors. You can find more information on designs and register online at their website.

Live Music at Jack’s By The Tracks

In Pascagoula, you can make live music part of your Valentine’s Day plans by visiting Jack’s By The Tracks for some sushi and a show. Sugar Lime Blue will be playing Americana tunes beginning at 6:30 p.m. The show is free. Visit their Facebook page for more information.

    Get Active for Valentine’s

For an active Valentine’s date, take your sweetheart on a sunset walk across the Ocean Springs bridge or along the Pascagoula beach road. You could plan a picnic or simple healthy meal on the beach before or after.

Whatever you choose for your special night out, making it unique to you as a couple and your interests can ensure that this year’s Valentine’s Day is extra special for both of you.
