Chevron is receiving international recognition after being named one of TIME magazine’s “10 Most Influential Energy Companies of 2026,” placing the company among a select group shaping the future of the global energy industry.
The honor comes as part of TIME’s new TIME100 Companies: Industry Leaders lists, which spotlight businesses making major impacts across industries ranging from technology to healthcare and energy.
TIME’s feature focused heavily on Chevron’s long-standing operations in Venezuela, where the company has worked for more than a century. Venezuela holds the world’s largest proven oil reserves, and ongoing global conflicts and supply disruptions have pushed the country back into the center of international energy conversations this year.
Chevron currently stands as the only major American oil company operating in Venezuela, giving the company an especially significant role as worldwide energy markets continue shifting.
Rather than rapidly expanding production to follow short-term price spikes, Chevron leaders say the company plans to take a more measured, long-term approach.
“Chevron has been in Venezuela for over a century,” CEO Mike Wirth said earlier this year. “We remain committed to leveraging our deep expertise and long-standing partnerships for the benefit of our shareholders and the people of Venezuela.”
TIME noted that Chevron’s experience, infrastructure, and steady strategy have made the company one of the most closely watched names in energy in 2026.
For communities along the Gulf Coast — including Mississippi, where Chevron maintains a major presence in Pascagoula — the recognition is another reminder of how deeply connected the region remains to the global energy industry.
