Each January, there is anticipation and excitement for things to look forward to in the new calendar year.

Mississippi has much to look forward to for 2022!

It’s an exciting time for the Magnolia State as the Gulf Coast continues to see successes and growth. Mississippi was the top travel spending market in the United States in both 2020 and 2021.

Coastal Mississippi accounts for at least one-third of the state’s tourism employees, expenditures, and taxes. Meaning, Coastal Mississippi was one of the highest performing destinations in the nation last year.

The Hospitality State is expected to thrive in 2022. Tourism also continues to rise in other popular destinations such as Hattiesburg, Vicksburg, Laurel, Tupelo, and Natchez.

Tourism is the fourth-largest industry in Mississippi, employing more than 127,000 people and generating over $6.51 BILLION in visitor spending. More than 24 MILLION people visited Mississippi during the last calendar year.

Natchez has put itself on the map as the perfect film set for Hallmark holiday movies. HGTV’S Hometown is filming another season in Laurel. Hattiesburg has been recognized as a global leader in public art, and Bay St. Louis is rated one of America’s best coastal places to live.

Much is happening in the great state of Mississippi.

With storied streets full of history and delicious food, plus the miles of sandy beaches on the coast, and the rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Mississippi has something for everyone.

One of the most notable aspects of Mississippi is the rich culture that embodies the entire state. This genuine and authentic Southern culture has inspired art, literature, food, drinks, and more. Wherever you find yourself in Mississippi, you are sure to be immersed in true Southern living.

2022, The Hospitality State is ready for you!
