This Christmas, I decided that I want to support Mississippi-made businesses, and of course, everyone loves a great candle! Candles make a fun gift and some of my favorite scented ones have been introduced to me by friends. Here’s a list of my favorite candles made right here in the Magnolia State.
Mississippi Candle Company’s Hot Buttered Rum Candle for $21.99 (Gulfport)
A warm holiday fragrance that fills the room with sweet scents of caramel, butterscotch, and a hint of rum. Mississippi Candle Company was started in 2019 by Jessica Simon, who started candle making as a hobby. She only uses lead-free and pure cotton wicks that are manufactured in the United States for her candles. Boozer’s Brew coffee shop in Gulfport carries the line, but anyone can shop online at mississippicandle.com.
Oxford Candle Company’s Christmas Tree Candle for $23, (Oxford)
The perfect gift for friends, family, or co-workers, this unique pottery bowl can be reused once the wax burns down and repurposed for decoration or a cute holiday candy dish. The mountain fir scent smells amazing, and each candle is double wicked for maximum burn time. Each container is oven, microwave, and food safe. These candles can be found all over the state in different gift shops or ordered online at themississippigiftcompany.com.

Musee Candles’ Prosecco & Apple for $24 (Madison)
This candle is not your average holiday-scented candle. It has refreshing notes of prosecco, crisp apple, white grapes, and fruity cork. Musee uses soy wax and ethically sourced natural ingredients, making handcrafted products giving back to the community. The company employs women in recovery, people with disabilities, and people living in chronic poverty. While shopping for your candles this holiday season, Musee also partners with the Kelly School, which provides school supplies and more to Schools for Haiti.
Kathrine’s Candles’ Christmas Cabin for $26 (Gulfport)
This candle is a swirled masterpiece of gorgeous Christmas scents. Kathrine’s candles will burn for up to 150 hours and are made locally in Gulfport using a unique swirling method. The candles can be purchased locally at the kiosk outside of the Gap store in the Gulfport Outlet Mall or at her shop at 11508 Three Rivers Road. For non-locals, shop online at kathrinescandles.ecwid.com.
Three Little Foxes Soap & Candle Co.’s Santa’s Hot Tub for $15 (Pascagoula)
The unique name and red-filled mason jar caught my attention! This candle has notes of deliciously warm cinnamon and clove combined with woodsy cedar, fir, and pine. This fun Christmas scent uses a blend of pure essential oils to bring elements of deep greenery and spice. Oils used: cedar leaf, cedarwood, cinnamon leaf, clove, and fir needle. Three Little Foxes uses wax products that are 100% soy which burns cleaner, gives a great scent throw, and lasts longer than most paraffin waxes. Candle lovers who are not local can purchase here and have them shipped, or there is a local pick-up option. Find them online at 3foxsoaps.com.
