Although the weather is still scorching, we are finally able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and that light is my favorite season—fall. Autumn. Whatever you’d rather call it.

Fall is many people’s favorite time of year because of the beautiful changes in the environment, from leaves turning beautiful colors to the weather finally cooling down a bit (and boy, do we need it).

It may be tempting to go out of state for a week to experience fall elsewhere. Maybe you’d like to go to Stowe, VT. I can’t say I blame you. It’s beautiful; however, Mississippi has plenty of beautiful, fun fall destinations that you don’t want to miss out on. Below, I have listed five of the most amazing and intriguing places to visit, right here in the Magnolia State, this fall. Let’s start with Tishomingo State Park.

    paw paw

    Tishomingo State Park

Located in Tishomingo County, Tishomingo State Park is an incredible spot to visit this fall. The weather will be perfect for you to put on your walking shoes and enjoy a scroll through the park. The outdoorsman would love a hike through this area.

    Hattiesburg

The Hub City is one of the most popular cities in Mississippi. Besides its expansive economic ventures, Hattiesburg is a great place to spend a day or two this fall. Not to mention the countless coffee shops that will be whipping up their best twists of the beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte.

    Bay St. Louis

Who said visiting the coast was only a summer time adventure? If you’re looking for a coastal Mississippi fall, Bay St. Louis is where you want to be this fall. From mouth watering food to a picturesque view, you’ll enjoy all that Bay St. Louis has to offer this fall.

    Oxford

This charming city will always have a special place in my heart. Oxford in the fall is truly a sight to behold. The fallen leaves that the sun beams upon gives the evening a nice fall colored hue. You can grab a fall themed coffee from a cafe and scroll through the Square for a while. Plus, football season kicks off, and Ole Miss fans from all around gather for each home game for tailgating and fun.

    Natchez Trace Parkway

This gem is located in Natchez, MS. I always say that Natchez is one of those special places with so much to do, no matter when you go. Fall is no exception. With 444 miles to explore and roughly 10,000 years of history hidden in every crack of the trace, you’ll enjoy absorbing the scenic views this fall. Let your windows down and road-trip on!
