    We don’t have much longer until Christmas gets here. Most people are excited about the seasonal bustle that the holiday season brings. During the holidays, you may get the urge to do some extra exploring. Keep reading to see a list of the top Christmas towns in Mississippi. 

    Oxford

    Southern Living Magazine remarked that Oxford is “one of the South’s most magical Christmas towns.” From the outdoor skating rink to the nearby places to shop on The Square to the town being adorned with Christmas decor, Oxford is a town that looks like it’s from a Hallmark movie. It is filled with holiday festivities for the Christmas season, after the lighting of the Christmas tree. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate the holidays, Oxford is the perfect location! 

    Southaven

    This northern Mississippi town is a fantastic Christmas spot. Full of local Christmas events on Silo Square and at churches, Southaven is a perfect place to celebrate the holidays! 

    Tupelo

    The birthplace of Elvis Presley is one of the best places to spend your Christmas this year. From festive Christmas events to the New Year’s Countdown at Fair Park, you’ll want to finish your year off here too. Plus, you can visit many museums such as the Elvis Presley Birthplace and the Tupelo Veterans Museum. 

    Gulfport

    Gulfport is super festive during this time of the year. It hosts its annual Gulfport Harbor Lights Festival, where you can see 40 acres of beautiful Christmas lights and decorations at Jones Park. There are roughly 1.5 million lights! What a glorious sight to behold! 

    Natchez

    Natchez has a month-long Christmas celebration filled with enough festivities for every person. Whether you have children who want to attend solely for the fun games or if you’d like to stroll downtown and grab a bite to eat, you’ll see why Natchez is one of the best Christmas towns to celebrate the holiday season! 

    Canton

    Mississippi’s “City of Lights,” Canton, is a festive Christmas town to visit. Their Christmas celebration started on November 24 and will end on December 23. So, you still have a little more time to visit Canton and partake in their Christmas festivities. If you go, you’ll see that it lives up to its title as the “City of Lights” here in Mississippi. It truly is a magnificent sight! 

    Hattiesburg

    In addition to the beautiful decorations in the historic district, Hattiesburg hosts its annual Victorian Candlelit Christmas celebration around the second weekend of December. It is hosted by the Hattiesburg Historic Neighborhood Association and is held to help take care of the Walthall grounds, Walthall Condos, and to help fund beautification projects within the community. What a wonderful cause to support for the most wonderful time of the year! 

    Columbia

    This small town is full of the Christmas spirit. From its fun Christmas parade to its beautiful display of “The Nativity Story,” Columbia presents an unforgettable Christmas, making it an excellent place to spend the holidays and one of the best Christmas towns in Mississippi. 

    Where’s the Next Stop?

    These are just a few of the gems in Mississippi that are worth checking out for Christmas. Although Christmas is right around the corner, you still have time to visit some of these places to experience Christmas in that town. No matter where you go, I am positive you’ll find something or someone you can connect with, whether it’s at a festival, a play, or another event full of Christmas celebrations. As you visit these locations, I hope you are enamored by the generous citizens, beautiful Christmas decorations, and delicious food, remembering that Christmas time is more fun when we celebrate together.
