Region play began for many teams in the “Southern Six” Friday night.
In D’Iberville, the visiting Biloxi Indians smacked the Warriors 34-27 to open Region 4-6A action.
The win moved Biloxi to 3-1 on the year, while D’Iberville has now dropped four straight games and stands 1-4 on the season.
In Class 5A, Gautier standout signal-caller Kaden Irving accounted for 7 touchdowns on his birthday whipping visiting George County 49-21.
Gulfport continued its dominance over St. Martin Friday night as the visiting Admirals registered a 21-7 win over the Yellow Jackets to open Region 4-6A play.
Head coach John Archie’s crew got a trio of scoring runs from three different players to overcome an early 7-0 deficit and pull out the win. Gavin Brown (6-yards), Emmanuel Bentley (5-yards) and Jacob Palazzo (10-yards) accounted for the touchdown runs.
St. Martin quarterback D.K. Jenkins hit Jaylen Anderson on a 30-yard touchdown toss on the opening drive of the game for SMHS.
Gulfport is 4-1 overall and SMHS drops to 3-2. The win marked the 17th win for Gulfport in 18 all-time meetings on the field between the two teams.
Also, Harrison Central beat Pascagoula in Region 4-6A play 44-31 and Ocean Springs remained unbeaten with a 42-7 win over Hancock.
In Region 4-5A, East Central hammered West Harrison 47-21 in a battle of unbeaten and Picayune remained unbeaten smashing Pearl River Central 49-7.
Resurrection fell to Lumberton 32-30 in Region 4-1A play.
