On Friday, March 31, 2023, Tougaloo College will be hosting the annual “Tougaloo College on the Coast” event at the Jackson County Civic Center in Pascagoula, Mississippi.
Tougaloo College is a private, coeducational, historically black four-year liberal arts, churchrelated, but not a church-controlled institution. It sits on 500 acres of land on West County Line Road on the northern edge of Jackson, Mississippi. According to the latest ranking of the U.S. News and World Report, Tougaloo College is ranked #15 among HBCUs in the United States and offers a well-rounded education.
In order to share the Tougaloo experience with students on the coast, “Tougaloo College on the Coast” was launched. High school juniors and seniors and community college students who attend school on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and coastal Alabama, counselors, and administrators will have the opportunity to meet and discuss programs with Tougaloo administrators, faculty, students, and staff (i.e., President, Vice Presidents, academic deans, financial aid, athletics, Student Government Association, etc.). Registration for this event is free. This is an annual event that has been well-attended in the past, and the participants truly appreciated the outreach from the college.
“We are once again excited about Tougaloo College traveling to interact with the great schools and great students across Coastal Mississippi and Alabama. We understand the difficulties school districts face trying to travel to allow students to visit colleges and universities, therefore we are coming to you! Over the years this annual event has produced a variety of great academic and athletic students for Tougaloo College and highlighted its distinguished alumni on the Gulf Coast. We will be having on-site admissions for students as well as giving out scholarships!”
