This beautiful autumn weather is the perfect time for enjoying a nice, long car ride along the back roads and byways of our scenic state.

But to be honest, here in the Lucius household, there is never really a bad day for taking a cruise in our 1932 Ford. Even better yet, we love taking our car to participate in antique car shows. Luckily, there are plenty of cruise-ins and car shows to attend across Mississippi this Saturday, October 4th, especially up here in the northern half of our state.

Those North Mississippi events include at least three car shows going on this Saturday for car enthusiasts.

First, check out the event at George P. Cossar State Park, located on the shores of Lake Enid. The show will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., with both classic and custom rides featured.

Guests can also grab a bite from the concession stand and buy a chance in the 50/50 raffle. Admission is just $2.00, and the show will take place at 165 County Road 170, Oakland, Mississippi, 38948. It is sure to be a fun day for friends, families, and car lovers of all ages, so visit mdwfp.com/events/george-p-cossar-state-park-car-show for more details.

Also, on Saturday, the small town of Big Creek, Mississippi, is hosting its 2nd Annual Small Town Cruizers Car and Bike Show. With an entry fee of $20, registration for all participating cars and bikes begins at 8 a.m. at the Big Creek Community Center.

For more information on this event, call 662-230-7327 or 662-927-0136. Last year’s inaugural show was great fun for all, so you don’t want to miss out on the show this weekend in Big Creek.

Finally, Baldwyn, Mississippi’s annual Okeelala Festival is slated for October 5. Festival fun will start at 9 a.m. at Baldwyn’s Latimer Park. Along with the car show, guests will be able to browse food, retail, arts, and craft vendors. The Okeelala Car Show will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with judging for the show set to begin at noon.

While there, guests may also enjoy a wide variety of musicians on the festival stage and play a little Bingo to win some great prizes. This is also the second year for the Okeelala Rodeo at the Latimer Park Horse Arena. For more information, go to baldwynliving.com.

So, yes, it seems like Saturday, October 4, will be a great day for a nice long car ride to a Mississippi car show. Or who knows! It might even be possible to cruise on over to all three shows before the day is done.
