MOSS POINT—Nothing says Christmas more than the joy in the eyes of a child upon receiving a gift, and the Junior Auxiliary of Pascagoula-Moss Point is working to make sure children in foster care have that same look of joy.
The Junior Auxiliary of Pascagoula-Moss Point has a mission of identifying and addressing the evolving needs of the local community, and this includes focusing on children and youth that has created a close partnership with the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Southeast Mississippi.
“Everything we do is rooted in service, leadership and a deep commitment to strengthening families and the community as a whole,” said JAPMP President JaLeasa Bolden. “Through hands-on service, strategic partnerships, and financial support, JAPMP works to provide guidance, resources, and opportunities that help young people grow into confident, compassionate, and civic-minded adults.”
As an ongoing partner with CASA of Southeast Mississippi, Mrs. Bolden said helping provide gifts for children in foster care closely aligns with the heart of why JA exists and is a well deserving project to adopt.
“CASA serves some of the most vulnerable children in our community through advocating for children in foster care who have experienced abuse or neglect,” Bolden said. “This partnership allows us to directly support children who need stability, comfort, and care the most, especially during the holidays. Supporting CASA is a natural extension of our commitment to protecting and uplifting children.”
Junior Auxiliary is collecting donations of gifts for five children in the foster care system. Amazon wish lists for each of the children has been shared for community members who would like to share the gift of joy this year. If additional gifts are received, those items will be donated directly to CASA who will then distribute to the children with the greatest need.
“This ensures that every donation has a maximum impact and reaches a child who can truly benefit,” Mrs. Bolden said. “It is always inspiring for JA to work with others to support children in foster care.”
Donations are being collected through December 9. Anyone interested in making a donation should call 228-990-7758 to view the wish lists.
“By helping to fulfill Christmas wish lists for children in foster care, we are offering more than just gifts,” Mrs. Bolden said. “We are offering hope, joy, and the reminder that their community cares deeply for them. This is at the very core of what Junior Auxiliary strives to do.”
JAPMP supports a variety of impactful programs that meet the needs of children and families year-round. Each initiative reflects the ongoing commitment of JA to serving children and strengthening our community.
