Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and the MGCCC Foundation welcomed representatives from the Rotary Clubs of Jackson and George Counties on November 5 for a special grant presentation ceremony celebrating a $3,275 donation benefiting the college’s food pantries.
The grant, made possible through the collaboration of five local Rotary Clubs and Rotary International, will support the food pantries at MGCCC’s Jackson County Campus and George County Center. These pantries provide students with essential items such as food and toiletries, helping to meet basic needs and promote success both in and out of the classroom.
“The generosity of our local Rotary Clubs and Rotary International reflects the spirit of service that makes our communities so strong,” said David Allen, vice chair of the MGCCC Foundation’s Board of Directors and the driving force behind the grant. “This contribution to the food pantries at our Jackson County Campus and George County Center will have a real and immediate impact—helping ensure that students have access to the basic necessities they need to focus on their education and future success.”
The event also marked the kickoff of the MGCCC Foundation’s Month of Giving, an annual initiative held each November to encourage community service, charitable giving, and campus engagement. Each year, the Foundation raises funds to provide student scholarships and a variety of resources for students at MGCCC’s 11 campuses and centers.
