BoHo Social House Wine and Cheese describes itself as “a wine and cheese social area with a light menu,” and I’d say that’s a correct description.
The restaurant goes on to say it’s “A trendy wine bar located in downtown Biloxi offering wine, bubbly flights, made-to-order charcuterie, small plates, and daily specials.” This is a much more descriptive image of this lovely little place, and every word rings true.
BoHo has been around for a little more than a year and a half. It is a small space, with just a few tables inside and a few more on the sidewalk out front. It’s a good place to people-watch, as this part of Howard Avenue, which continues to grow, is getting busier and busier. In fact, it’s beginning to feel like the center of town, just as it was many years ago.
BoHo is all about the gathering of friends and sharing of good things. Walk into BoHo and you will immediately feel comfortable. It’s intimate and a good place to gather for a leisurely glass of wine or an early evening snack. The staff is friendly and eager to make your visit a pleasant one.
There are eight tapas, or starters, to choose from. I have to go for the homemade pimento and cheese, but the baker brie and the baked goat cheese also look great. There are three charcuterie boards to choose from, one for one to two diners, the next for two to four, and the last four and eight. There is also a good selection of sandwiches and wraps and a few good-looking desserts. The A LA Carte menu is more extensive, with 18 choices. My top picks would be the goose liver pate, aged gruyere, truffle gouda, and the strawberry chardonnay goat cheese, but in truth, all the selections look good.
There is a good selection of spirits, single malts flights, 12 wines by the glass, and more than 40 wines by the bottle, ranging in price from $38 to a Cabernet Bordeaux Blend, Opus One that will set you back more than $500.
What you are going to find at BoHo is a very cool place to share good food and wine with good friends. It really is unique, comfortable, and a bit trendy but in a very relaxed sort of way. This is not a place to rush in and out, so plan on staying a while. Don’t forget to check out the entertainment schedule too!
