Home-standing Harrison Central picked up a big win Friday night on the baseball diamond.
The Red Rebels snapped a five-game losing streak with a 7-2 win over visiting Ocean Springs. The victory moved HCHS to 4-8 overall, and the loss dimmed the Greyhounds’ recent play a bit as OSHS had won five of six coming into the contest in Lyman. Ocean Springs sits at 6-6 overall on the season.

The Greyhounds actually jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the third frame, but HCHS used some solid work in the middle three innings to seal the win.
The Red Rebels responded to the two runs by OSHS with a solo run of their own in the bottom of the third, but HCHS took the lead for good in the next frame when the host team plated four runs.
Harrison Central then added a pair of insurance runs in the fifth to secure the win.
Sophomore Bryan Travis led the HCHS hit parade with three hits including a triple and he drove in three runs as well. Shaun Cochran chipped in two hits to the winning effort, while sophomore Jaxson Moore also drove in a pair of runs for the Red Rebels.

Daniel Ruiz picked up the win on the hill for HCHS, working six solid stanzas striking out six, and scattering two hits. Will Blevins took the loss for OSHS.
Jack Jordan led the Greyhounds at the plate with one of the two OSHS hits and he also drove in a run. Southern Miss signee McCarty English had the other RBI for the Greyhounds.

Harrison Central was coming off a 3-0 loss to D’Iberville earlier in the week, in a decision where the Warriors got a combined one-hit shutout from a pair of pitchers in the winning effort.
Senior classmates Eli Page and Aiden Seymour teamed up for the impressive feat, as Page started and took the win with five frames of outstanding work striking out 13 and walking four. Seymour then hurled the final two innings and earned a save allowing the oe hit while striking out four and walking one.
Dennis Krabbe provided all the run support the pitching duo would need with a two-run double, while Trey Jacquet added a run-scoring single to the winning effort. The Warriors sit at 5-6 overall.

All three Class 6A squads are back in action in the annual Battle of the Beach this week. Up next for HCHS is a home date with Center Hill Tuesday night, while OSHS and DHS are up first as the Greyhounds host Madison St. Joe Monday night at 7 while Northwest Rankin travels to D’Iberville Monday night at the same time for a match-up with the Warriors.
