Stone County’s largest annual event, the Pine Hill Festival, will return to downtown Wiggins April 24-25.
The two-day festival stretches from Pine Hill Avenue to Blaylock Park and the Historic Stone County Courthouse. It is hosted by the Stone County Economic Development Partnership.
According to Explore Stone County, the Pine Hill Festival is one of the oldest and most celebrated festivals in South Mississippi and draws thousands of visitors and residents each year.
The event traces its roots to the Pine Hill area of Wiggins, which became the city’s commercial center after a major fire reshaped downtown in 1910. The celebration began as “Pine Hill Day” in 1981 and has since grown into a two-day festival highlighting the county’s history, businesses and culture.
More than 100 artists and merchants are expected to participate, offering handmade goods, fine art and other one-of-a-kind items. Food vendors will also be located throughout the festival, serving options ranging from traditional Southern dishes to specialty festival foods.
Explore Stone County said the festival also features live music and family-friendly activities while providing an opportunity for visitors to explore downtown Wiggins.
The festival is funded in part through a grant from the Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area.
