The catch was brought in buckets, coolers, bags, and even piled high in wagons at this past weekend’s Mississippi Kids Fishing Rodeo.

As part of the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, the Kids Fishing Rodeo provided pint-sizers a chance to show off their fishing prowess.

Throughout the day Saturday, these kids were constantly reeling in a catch—some freshwater and some saltwater—before they all reported to the scales. For the anglers aged 4-12 years old, categories included: Speckled Trout, Redfish, White Trout, Croaker, Ground Mullet, Flounder, Sheephead, and Drum, as well as Bass, Bream, and Catfish.

Ultimately, there were 55 winners in 11 categories. To view pictures from the Kids Fishing Rodeo, check out the gallery below.

    • First-time Mississippi Kids Fishing Rodeo participants Ace and Jax Randall
    • Veteran Kids Fishing Rodeo participant Wyatt Grant
    • Fishing wasn’t the only fun had at the rodeo as there was food vendors, live music, and even a Ferris wheel
    • Abbie Drake of Long Beach holds up one of the competition fish

After dropping off their catch, the young anglers were able to take in all the rodeo had to offer. From live music to archery tag (something I would definitely like to try!), there was plenty to do.

Whether you came for the food, the fun, or the fish, there’s no way you left the 2021 Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo disappointed. For more information on the categories and prizes, click here.
