Jackson & George Counties, MS — The Jackson-George Regional Library System (JGRLS) is excited to announce the launch of Free Pantries at library branches across the system. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, this new initiative provides community members with access to essential items, reflecting the library’s mission: Inspiring Ideas, Enriching Lives, Building Communities.
Each Free Pantry will be stocked with unopened toiletries, pet food, and non-perishable food items donated by caring patrons and local supporters. The project aims to assist individuals and families in need while encouraging the spirit of giving within our communities.
“Our libraries are more than just places for learning, they’re community lifelines,” said Angela Stewart, Director of the Jackson-George Regional Library System. “The Free Pantries reflect our commitment to meeting the real needs of our patrons and neighbors.”
The public is encouraged to donate unopened and non-expired items at any JGRLS branch to help keep the pantries stocked year-round.
To help raise awareness and community participation, the library system will also share a promotional video on Facebook and YouTube, highlighting the importance of this project and how everyone can get involved.
