Delta Watercolor Artist David Rawlinson holding Watercolor Demonstration and Art Talk at Pacesetter Gallery

Delta artist David Rawlinson will be at Pacesetter Gallery for a watercolor demonstration and art talk. The event will take place March 10th 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Pacesetter Gallery in Flowood and is free to the public.

After receiving a BFA in Advertising Design from Memphis College of Art, Rawlinson worked as an Art Director for several advertising agencies in Memphis and Little Rock, AR. After a long and successful career in graphic design, Rawlinson left the world of logos and layout to follow the unpredictable journey of the brush. Living in iconic southern cities such as New Orleans, LA, Memphis, TN, Little Rock, AR, and Holly Springs, MS, has shaped his style and influences.

“Whatever the inspiration, my paintings share one well-defined theme: the striking beauty of contrast. The work presents people, places, and objects in settings of chaotic serenity.”, states the artist.

Mid 2022, Pacesetter Gallery in Flowood, MS began carrying his work with great response. His work has continued to grow in popularity in Central Mississippi, with many artists and collectors requesting an opportunity to meet the artist and watch him in action. His travels take him through Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Alabama, searching for subject matter. Each piece draws the viewer in with his use of color, dramatic shadow, and line, creating impactful landscapes.

“I am so proud to promote David Rawlinson’s original artwork at Pacesetter Gallery. We are excited to share his process and story at the gallery event. His work exudes a sense of reverence for these old structures, a respect for a life well lived, protecting generations within their walls.  This dynamic, intangible quality of his work does something to my heart, that connection we are hopeful for where we truly experience art deep within ourselves. I often see that strong connection and reaction in the words and eyes of his collectors.” states Pacesetter Gallery owner and artist Keri Davis.

“In the late 60’s I lived with my mother in the French Quarter of New Orleans. She was a portrait artist on Jackson Square. I began painting while attending high school in New Orleans and working in a frame shop after school. While working in the frame shop, I got to know many different artists that lived in the French Quarter. That early art environment in such a unique place was a valuable asset to my art career”, states Rawlinson

David Rawlinson is a member of Memphis Germantown Art League (MGAL), Artistlink, Mid-Southern Watercolorist Tennessee Watercolor Society and has won MGAL Winder Exhibition: 2nd Place, 2019 MGAL Star Artist Exhibition: Best of Show and Honorable Mention, 2020 GCVAA (Gibson County Visual Arts Association): Honorable Mention, 2020 Southern Appalachian Artist Guild (Annual Exhibition): 1st Place, 2021 Mid-South Watercolorist: Dick Blick Award, 2021 MGAL Spring Exhibition Honorable Mention
