Chevron Pascagoula Refinery Celebrates its 60th Anniversary

Chevron Pascagoula Refinery, along with the Jackson County Economic Development Foundation celebrated the company’s recent commitment of 29.5 million in new investments north of the refinery on Highway 611. Since its inception in 1963, Chevron has invested millions of dollars into the local community and state, employing thousands of workers with full benefits and competitive wages.

“As an elected official, I depend on successful companies to hire hard workers and pay good competitive wages. Chevron does that, and Jackson County benefits. Just consider Chevron’s impact – about $350 million was spent on local goods and services last year and more than 2,700 employees and contractors. And we know Chevron will lead the energy industry with new technologies in achieving a lower carbon future.” Ken Taylor, Jackson County, Board President

This latest investment is transforming several properties and expanding the refinery footprint. In recognition of Chevron’s corporate partnership, the Jackson County Board of Supervisors and the City of Pascagoula presented commendations in honor of its 60th operational Anniversary. The event included local, state, and federal officials and executives from the Chevron Refinery.

Chevron Pascagoula is the corporation’s largest U.S. refinery and one of the country’s top petroleum refineries. As a global producer of premium base oils, the refinery also produces 6.9 million gallons of gas daily. The oil and gas industry supports productivity in everything from agriculture to healthcare and certainly aids in The Magnolia State’s economic development, overall well-being, and success.

The Chevron Pascagoula Refinery employs 1,634 employees and 1,1,44 contractors. With an employee donation to non-profits + Chevron matching $1.1 million and employee volunteer hours 2,400 +. With property taxes of 47.6 million in 2022, $23.1 million went to Jackson County, while $24.5 million went to the Pascagoula and Gautier School Districts.

As Chevron Pascagoula Refinery, along with the Jackson County Economic Development Foundation, celebrated 60 years of community investment in four core areas: health, education, economic development, and environment, Chevron’s commitment to sustainable energy and a healthy, thriving community is evident.

“The Transforming Communities Together ceremony celebrated Chevron’s most recent capital investment in our community and along Highway 611 as they continue to grow and diversify the economic development fabric of Jackson County, the Gulf Coast region, and the state of MS. Not only was the ceremony about the $29.5 new capital investment but even more so about Chevron’s 60-year commitment to growing together with this community and their community of dedicated employees.” Mary Martha Henson, Deputy Director of Jackson County Economic Development Foundation
