MOSS POINT—Regardless of where you call home, Burnham’s in Moss Point is opening its doors for its 35th annual Holiday Open House on Sunday, November 16, from noon until 4 p.m.

The store located on Main Street has begun decking its walls with holiday gift ideas and décor to prepare for the more than 200 guests who attend the annual event.

Heather Austin, buyer and gift manager for Burnham’s, said the open house is an opportunity to celebrate the holidays and the community with fellowship and fun.

“Coming to Open House is not only a fun time but also a great way to catch up with old friends, have a personal shopping experience, and enjoy some great refreshments,” Mrs. Austin said. “It is also time to experience the joy and Christmas spirit that’s guaranteed to be there.”

This year, like the others, will be no different with giveaways throughout the four-hour event, door prizes and discounts throughout the entire store along with refreshments for all.

“Come enjoy our little slice of heaven for the afternoon and get a jump on your holiday shopping,” Austin added.

Refreshments will include a large charcuterie spread, chicken salad sandwiches, dips, desserts and more.

John McKinney, owner of Burnham’s, moved from Meridian to Moss Point with his late wife, Wendy, and they began hosting the open houses along with other downtown businesses. Even after other businesses closed, Burnham’s has continued this community tradition.

“Open House honors Wendy because she loved Christmas and doing open house,” McKinney said. “It was her time to shine.”

Whether your list includes gifts for yourself, house or tree décor, children’s clothing or items or specialty food items, Burnham’s Open House can help with sales and gift wrapping. A sneak peek prior to open house provides insight into some of the beautiful new Christmas items that will be available.
