I like Rouses Grocery Store. It is clean, well-stocked with knowledgeable employees and a diverse selection of quality things to eat. They have a small buffet that usually has a good selection that changes daily. With classics to eat, like fried chicken and mac and cheese (my favorite).
There is also a deli that features quite a few cheeses and deli meats and they cut to order, so if you are in the mood for thick sliced baloney for a fried bologna sandwich, you can get exactly what you want. If you are looking for a charcutier platter, this is the place you are looking for. There is also a bakery with just about anything you want, from crispy French bread to dinner rolls, and don’t forget to brows the pastry shop.
If you are in the mood for Asian, there is a small, made on site, sushi section. Their rotisserie chickens are very good, and they normally have prepacked fried chicken and mac and cheese in single serving sizes,
But perhaps my favorite is the prepared salad section. I don’t mean fresh salad, although they do have a good salad bar, that includes fresh veggies and fruit too. It has almost every kind of salad you might be hungry for, from cole slaw to macaroni salad, to a pretty interesting Italian salad, to name just a few.

I hate to admit it, but I am there almost every day. Since Covid I have just about given up on cooking for myself, although I am bound and determined to get back into my own kitchen soon. But they have a good enough selection to be able to put together a nice meal for you or your entire family quickly and at no great expense or just buy a fresh baked baguette, and a few deli meats and cheeses, and design your own po-boy.
If you are thinking about grilling, Rouses has the best. They carry USDA Prime, Prime rib that is simply the best I have ever had. Season it aggressively and throw it on a hot wood fire (after the fire has died down, it is just a bed of red hot coals) for three minutes a side. Perfect!
My favorite seasoning mixes made by Gustus Vita, they have quite a few to choose from, by favorites are the Italian and French, both of which go wonderfully with hardwood fire cooked steak.
