The PRC girls are coming off a close 38-32 road win over Long Beach Tuesday night.
Elsewhere in prep girls’ hoops action Tuesday night in the “Southern Six”, Gulfport beat visiting Harrison Central in Region 8-6A action to secure the top seed in that upcoming Tournament that starts Monday in Lyman. The same two teams will meet in the opening round of the event on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
Gulfport travels to Gautier Friday night to wrap up regular season action, while HCHS travels to West Harrison to do the same.
Speaking of West Harrison, the Lady Canes beat St. Martin Tuesday night 38-29. It marked the 12th straight win for head coach Patty Norwood’s crew.
Freshman guard Sydnei Barber led the way in the win with 17 points and seven rebounds, while senior forward Taylor Hopgood posted adouble-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds plus she also added six assists and three blocks.
Jay Robinson scored 12 points to lead SMHS.
Also on Tuesday, the Biloxi girls celebrated Senior Night with a commanding 49-20 win over visiting Moss Point. The Lady Indians got a game-high 18 points, five assists and two blocks in limited action from senior standout Shaneal Corpuz, in what could be her last game at the Biloxi Sports Arena after a stellar career.
Biloxi also got a double-double from eighth-grader Zaniya Johnson as she tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds. The Lady Indians jumped out to a quick 21-3 lead after the first period and then held the Lady Tigers scoreless in the second stanza and in the process took a 36-3 lead into halftime.
The win marked the end of the regular season for Biloxi, who will face Hancock for the third time this season Monday night at 6 p.m., in the opening game of the Region 8-6A Tournament in Lyman.
