It’s a wacky fundraiser for an important cause and there’s only one way to get the “Coastal Stag” edition golf cart—and that’s with a raffle ticket.

The Walter Anderson Museum of Art is raffling off a one-of-a-kind, custom-built golf cart and it’s not too late to get a ticket for a chance to win. The golf cart is inventive southern culture on wheels wrapped in renowned artist Walter Anderson’s cosmic paintings from his landmark Ocean Springs Community Center murals. It’s being hailed as naturalistic art in modern, poetic movement.

“Much of our work is about educating and inspiring communities to venture beyond the confines of the everyday and into nature, and so it is fitting that this golf cart fundraiser literally injects Walter Anderson’s art—and the native flora and fauna that he loved—into the streets and avenues of the southern landscape,” said Julian Rankin, WAMA executive director.

If you’ve visited the museum, you probably remember its crowned jewel, the Little Room. Those designs inspired the custom golf cart which will be raffled on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 21. Deadline to purchase a ticket is Monday, Feb. 20 at 11:59 p.m.

The Coastal Stag was built by Ocean Springs Downtown Cart Rentals. It was constructed from the ground up by Mississippi makers with a classic Club Car Precedent body, all new electronics and batteries, Bluetooth sound system, lift, wheels and tires, seats, roof, exclusive Walter Anderson vinyl body wrap, fold-down cargo seat, and built-in cooler. It’s the only one of its kind in existence and is valued at more than $10,000.

Tickets are $25 each or only $20 each if you purchase five or more. You do not need to be present at the drawing to win. Following the grand prize golf cart raffle drawing, museum officials will draw 20 additional winners and award consolation prizes valued at more than $2,500 including gift cards, Walter Anderson products, museum memberships, and exclusive apparel.

The museum is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and the funds generated by the raffle will support its mission of inspiring discovery, imagination, and community-building on the Gulf Coast through programs, exhibits, engagement, and outreach.

The museum embodies Walter Anderson’s vision for societies in harmony with their environments. Every ticket purchased to win this southern culture on wheels supports the continued empowerment of Anderson’s lifelong curiosity and connection to the natural world through the art and kindred artists scattered all along the Coast.

So even if you don’t win the Coastal Stag, you’ll still be supporting an important coastal and cultural treasure—the Walter Anderson Museum of Art.
