This year seems to be going by quickly as we are already looking ahead to Easter 2022, which will come on April 17! Easter is not on a fixed date, as it falls between March 22 and April 25 each year (based on the calendar used by Western Christians). Given that Easter is just two weeks away, you may be looking for a fun activity or event to help you celebrate. Here’s a list of what’s going on this year for Easter along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

    1. Gulfport Easter Egg Hunt

Where: Lynn Meadows Discovery Center (246 Dolan Ave.) in Gulfport

    When: April 14 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

This is a free event for members of the children’s museum. If you’re either already a member or become one prior to April 14, come on out and find eggs filled with prizes and candy. In addition, concessions are available and you can get a picture with the Easter bunny!

    2. Diamondhead Easter Egg Hunt

Where: Lazy Gator Sports Bar and Steamer (3410 Yacht Club Cir.) in Diamondhead

When: April 9 at 4 p.m. (starts at 5:30 pm for adults)

There is a kids’ Easter egg hunt that starts at 4, while the one for adults starts at 5:30. It costs $7 for kids, which includes arts and crafts, as well as the Easter egg hunt. For adults, it costs $10, which includes the Easter egg hunt, as well as a “boozy,” and cash prizes!

    3. Ocean Springs Easter Egg Hunt

Where: Little Children’s Park on Washington Ave. in Ocean Springs

    When: Saturday, April 9 from 9-12 p.m.

This Easter egg hunt boasts over 6,000 eggs, fun prizes, as well as music, and other activities! There are also carnival games, and of course you can get your pictures taken with the Easter bunny. The Easter egg hunts are categorized by age group: 1-2-year-olds, 3-5 year-olds, 6-8-year-olds, and 9-10-year-olds. Easter egg hunts will start at 9 a.m., and each hunt runs for about 30 minutes. If you need more information, call Parks and Recreation at (228)875-8655.

    4. Biloxi Easter Egg Hunts

    City of Biloxi Easter Extravaganza

Where: Eagle Point Park in Biloxi

    When: Saturday, April 9 from 2-4 p.m.

This Easter event is open to children ages 2 to 11 and will include carnival-type games, refreshments, and an egg hunt. The Easter Bunny will be on-site, so make sure to have your cameras! Parents will not be allowed on the hunting fields; volunteers will assist children. This event is free! For more details, call (228)388-7170

City of Biloxi Special Needs Egg Hunt

Where: Barbra Ferrill Softball Fields (1940 Edgers Rd.) in Biloxi

    When: Sunday, April 10 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

This event is open to those of all ages with physical and mental disabilities and their parents and will include an egg hunt, games, and pictures with the Easter Bunny. Lunch will be provided. For more details, call (228)388-7170.

    5. Gautier Easter Egg Hunt

Where: First United Methodist Church in Gautier

    When: Saturday, April 16 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

First United Methodist Church in Gautier is back with their second annual Easter Jam, and the bunny has been working hard to get all his egg hunt fun ready for everybody. Egg hunt schedule is as follows: Infant-PreK starts at 10:00 am;  K-3rd Grade starts at 10:30 am (K-1st get a one-minute head start) and tweens (4th-6th grades) are inside for a glow-in-the-dark hunt at 11:00 a.m. The teen and adult only hunt starts at 11:30 a.m. Admission is free with prizes for each age division.

I am married, and I also have a 4-year-old daughter. I earned my Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi, and I have been teaching psychology classes over the past 10 years. As a professor and as a parent, I grew to love learning anything about child development. I recently turned that into a passion for helping other parents by starting my own blog at http://www.nurturingtamra.com.
