Relive Woodstock at the Hattiesburg Zoo

The legendary Woodstock, held in August 1969, was three iconic days of music, peace, and love. It was a very memorable time for not only music but the world, and you can experience some of that magic at Zoostock 2021, which is being held on August 20, 2021, at the Hattiesburg Zoo.

The event was first held in 2019 but was canceled last year due to COVID restrictions. Now, the Hattiesburg Zoo is excited to revive this event.

“This is the second annual Zoostock, which was created so that adults could relive, or experience for the first time, the feelings of Woodstock held in August of 1969,” Lisa Conn of the Hattiesburg Convention Commission said.

It is bound to be a night you’ll never forget as you take a trip back in time to enjoy the music and groovy styles of the 1960s.

“Guests will experience three and a half hours of peace, music, food, dancing, and fun,” Conn continued. “We will have a musician playing more mellow tunes at the Pavilion of Peace and Love where guests can play large-scale party games. The Heavy DJ will be spinning twitchin’ tunes while partiers dance and play in the splash pad of foam.”

And when you get tired of dancing and grooving to the music, there will be plenty of selections of food and drinks to get your energy back. Some of the menu items include psychedelic skewers, fried mushrooms, Long Island Peace Tea, Grapefruit Dead Cocktails, and Groovy Whip.

Pull out that tie-dyed t-shirt, grab some beads, and come decked out in your grooviest outfit to enjoy all the fun. The “Peace Train” will be rocking and the “Psychedelic Carousel” will be spinning all night long for guests to enjoy all the fun in this mini Woodstock revival.

“Whether you arrive in your wood-panel station wagon, your Slug Bug, or your peace-covered school bus, call shotgun and get on over to the Zoostock 2021,” Conn said. “You’ll be bummed out if you miss this out of sight night at the Hattiesburg Zoo.”

Zoostock is open to adults age 21 and older.  Annual passes do not apply for this event. Tickets are $10.00 purchased in advance or $15.00 at the gate. Click here for tickets.

Zoostock 2021 is sponsored by Stokes Distributing and Hattiesburg Coca-Cola.
