Best views for a drink on the Gulf Coast

The summer heat has settled in and you may not be able to escape the temperatures but what you can manage is a cold drink…especially with a view. Whether you prefer cold beer or cocktails, there are plenty of bars and restaurants along the coast to help you enjoy your summer day. Here are five hotspots for cold drinks that offer the most memorable views on the Mississippi Gulf Coast:

The Blind Tiger Biloxi Beach, also known as TBT, in Biloxi easily has one of the best views of the Mississippi Sound. Sit at the long bar or grab a table for a freshly cooked meal, TBT is perfect for a water breeze with a view of Deer Island. Watch the sailboats and cruisers motor past while you sip on a tasty cold drink. With a full bar and an easy-going, attentive staff, it is the perfect choice for visitors and locals alike. Attached to Harrah’s Gulf Coast, you can even walk across the bridge and play your favorite slot machines if you decide to.

Dan B. Murphy’s Restaurant and Bar, Tripletails Restaurant, & Buoys Bar are all set across from the harbor in Old Town Bay St. Louis. All three rise three stories offering wonderful views of the Bay St. Louis Bridge, and if you hang out a while, expect to see a train traveling by. Buoys offers train shots as the cars rumble past the bar. There is plenty to enjoy from ice-cold beers, cocktails, and fresh bar food. There are bands playing most weekends and during festivals, these bars on South Beach Blvd are real hot spots.

Shaggy’s, located in Pass Harbor, is a casual spot with a great view of the Pass Christian coastline. There are several Shaggy’s locations across the coast, however, the Pass Christian Shaggy’s may just offer the best view of the water. This location at the harbor is a great place to relax, plus there is a happy hour most weeknights as well as dinner specials.

The Bayou Restaurant and Tiki Bar in Ocean Springs is a sweet spot to take in the sunset. With a full menu, specialty drinks, and cold beer, this tiki-style bar provides a great view of the bayou. Boats can roll up and dock easily; it’s like a Jimmy Buffett song come true. Rocking bands on the weekends offer live music to dance the night away. This place doesn’t open until the afternoon, so make sure you check for times.

The Hideaway Bar at Sioux Bayou Landing RV Resort in Gautier is under new ownership. This casual bar is accessible by boat, as well as an easy drive. There is a newly built back deck to relax and take in the bayou. You can also watch the kayakers as they paddle past and fishermen on the pier. The beers are ice-cold, and the new management is working on getting a license to sell liquor, so count on frozen Mudslides in the near future.

Summer has only begun, so there is plenty of time to try them all. Take in a sunset, kick your feet up, and enjoy life. Life is easy on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Cheers, y’all.
