    Water-Ways Series: Land Trust Archaeology program offered at Twelve Oaks

    The public is invited to attend a free WaterWays Smithsonian program presented by Twelve Oaks on Sunday, October 28, from 2 to 4 p.m., in Ocean Springs. The Land Trust for the Mississippi Coastal Plain and Cindy Carter-Davis, Mississippi Archaeologist, will showcase exhibits from archaeological sites, and artifacts associated with Mississippi Waterways. Children ages 6 and younger will be able to experience a representation of an archaeological dig. Exhibits will include artifacts from a shell midden on the east bank of the Pascagoula River, a mound site on the shore of the Gulf, Cedar Lake Island in the Tchoutacabouffa River, and more. An archaeological demonstration will also be available for viewing with volunteers available to answer questions. Twelve Oaks is located at 1112 Hanley Road in Ocean Springs.
