The State’s Biggest Baseball Stage: Championship Week at Trustmark Park

The 2026 Mississippi High School Baseball Championship tournament starts this week in Pearl, Mississippi, at Trustmark Park. The tournament will run from Tuesday, May 19, through Saturday, May 23, with four to five games slated each day, as needed in these “best 2 out of 3” matchups.

As usual, 14 teams from the seven classifications of high schools (1A-7A) across the state made the trip to Pearl to compete for the top title in their school’s division. Also, as usual, two teams (one from the North half of the state and the other from the South half of the state) will meet there on the beautiful field of Trustmark Park to battle for the state championship trophy.

Sponsored by the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA), this week’s games are the culmination of regular-season play that began in mid-February and took place throughout the state within the seven classifications of the more than 200 Mississippi high schools that compete in baseball. The final team matchups consist of these 14 teams:

    Class—North v. South

    1A – West Union v. Taylorsville

    2A – East Webster v. Mize

    3A – Booneville v. Presbyterian Christian

    4A – Mooreville v. Poplarville

    5A – Pontotoc v. Sumrall

    6A – Saltillo v. Pearl River

    7A – Oxford v. Petal.

This year at Trustmark Park, fans will watch some well-seasoned teams that have been to Pearl more than once, but they will also get to see a few teams compete that have not been to state championship playoffs in quite some time. Two teams in different divisions are competing for their first-ever state title, with one of those teams being a newcomer to the tournament altogether. Likewise, some of the teams competing this week were predicted to be here from the start of the 2026 season, while other teams surprised lots of people by achieving much more than they were expected to accomplish back in mid-February.

But whatever the statistics were and whatever predictions were made before this official playoff week, one thing is certain about the Mississippi High School Baseball Championships, and that single certainty is: Nothing is ever truly certain when it comes to the final games of our state’s championship baseball tournament.

Each high school athlete out there on that Trustmark field came to win, and each guy will play his absolute best to take home the trophy for his teammates, coaches, and school. In fact, this moment is exactly what each of these players has been working toward over the past three months. So, make sure to support these guys by attending or watching the 2026 MHSAA Baseball State Championships.
