In a small town, it doesn’t take long to figure out which places people keep going back to. Williamson Nursery is one of them.
Not long after I moved to Summit, I started going there myself. One of the first events I attended was a bouquet class taught by Sara Doman, and from that point on, I started paying more attention to what they had going on.
Over time, it became somewhere we go regularly.
As a homeschooling mom, I’m always looking for simple incentives, and going to the nursery has become one of those. If the schoolwork gets done, we can go. That alone is enough motivation.
The layout is part of what makes it stand out. It’s set up with shaded walking paths through the trees, and it doesn’t feel like a typical storefront nursery. It’s somewhere you can take your time, walk through, and feel like you’re actually touring the space instead of just stopping in to buy something. And while you’re there, you’ll usually spot Lily, the beagle, trotting around and getting plenty of attention from the kids.
Williamson Nursery stays active with events throughout the year, which keeps people coming back. Their spring schedule includes:
- Open House: Bloom and Boil Bash featuring crawfish
- Beekeeping for Beginners with Dr. Jeff Harris
- Easter Egg Hunt with thousands of prize-filled eggs
- Mushroom Workshop with Brent Breland
- Canning Class for Beginners with Shiela Gunderson
- Gibbes in the Garden featuring dinner and live music
They also host a farmer’s market every Saturday from May 16 through July 25.
It’s a consistent place for the community to gather, whether for events or just a regular visit.
Williamson Nursery is locally owned and operated in Summit, Mississippi, and has built a steady following through both its plant selection and its community-focused events. For many families, it’s become more than just a place to buy plants. It’s a place they return to.
