Card Rates (cardrates.com) conducted a survey with 3,000 credit card holders with outstanding points. This survey unmasked 126 of the top most opulent destinations in the United States. The Mississippi Gulf Coast, Oxford, and Natchez were voted amongst some of the most luxurious places to visit in the country. The Mississippi Gulf Coast ranked in the top twenty, coming in at #14. Oxford was voted #88, and Natchez ranked at #126. These are all wonderful accolades for the Magnolia State. Keep reading to see what people love about these Mississippi locations.

    Mississippi Gulf Coast

Let’s start with the beautiful Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Our coastline ranked #14. The Mississippi Gulf Coast is lined with beautiful cities, each with a distinct atmosphere in the midst of many similarities. Casinos are one of the main attractions on the coast. Book a suite at one of the deluxe casinos. Enjoy an all-inclusive stay with spa treatments, fine dining, and lots of entertainment. Wake up the next day and cruise down the Mississippi Gulf Coast and find a spot on the beach to soak up some sun.

    Oxford

Oxford came in 88th place in the most luxurious places to visit in the United States. Having lived in Oxford for roughly seven years, I can objectively say that Oxford is one of the most beautiful cities to visit in Mississippi. Book a few nights at one of the best boutique hotels ever. The Graduate is a fan favorite. If you enjoy literary arts, you’ll have the time of your life exploring the many bookstores here. Oxford is where William Faulker’s home, Rowan Oak, is located. This stunning city is loaded with art galleries and museums full of  exquisite pieces by locals. Attending a performance at the Gertrude C. Ford center is a must. You may end up seeing a play or listening to the Ole Miss Choir. After exploring all day, you can wind your day down at restaurants, like Ajax and Boure, that specialize in traditional southern and creole cuisine.

    Natchez

Coming in at #126 is Natchez. Natchez is one of those places that you could frequent for years and still find something else interesting to explore. Natchez is the history lover’s playground— full of antebellum homes turned into luxurious bed and breakfasts. Book a stay in one of them and soak up the history that is written into each wall of the house, each room telling its own unique story. Embark on a journey down the Mississippi River with a riverboat tour. This historical landmark is also full of southern fine dining. You’ll never get tired of filling up on some of the country’s best cuisine.

    Different Feel— Same State

One of the most amazing aspects of Mississippi is that you’ll get a different version and experience depending on where you go. Natchez isn’t quite like Oxford. Oxford is far different from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Mississippi has three highly sought after places that people from all walks of life enjoy visiting. What is your favorite place out of these three places? Do you enjoy days filled with laughter and sun on the Mississippi Gulf Coast? Are you a lover of the arts who would rather scroll throughout the square, popping in and out and of museums and bookstores in Oxford? Or are you a history buff who enjoys learning untold stories and secrets in Natchez? Let us know on Our Mississippi Home’s Facebook page!
