Mississippi State recorded an all-time high Graduation Success Rate (GSR) according to the latest NCAA report released Wednesday. The most recent Graduation Success Rates are based on the four entering freshmen classes in Division I from 2013-14 to 2016-17.
Bulldog student-athletes earned a GSR of 91 percent, the highest GSR in school history, besting the previous program record of 90 percent set in both 2022 (2015 cohort) and 2017 (2010 cohort). It marks the seventh consecutive year that Mississippi State has earned a score of 87 percent or better.
Six Bulldog programs – men’s basketball, women’s golf, softball, women’s tennis, women’s cross country and track and field, and volleyball – earned perfect scores of 100. Four programs registered scores of 90 or better, including soccer (95), men’s golf (92), women’s basketball (92) and baseball (91).
Men’s basketball earned a perfect score of 100 for the fourth consecutive year. It marked back-to-back years that both volleyball and women’s cross country and track and field turned in a perfect score of 100. Women’s golf extended its perfect score of 100 streak to 19 years, while both softball and women’s tennis extended theirs to 12 years.
The GSR includes student-athletes who are on scholarship their first semester of enrollment. Athletes who transfer or depart for the professional ranks in good academic standing do not count against the school’s GSR. Schools also are allowed to count incoming transfers and January enrollees who subsequently graduate toward the GSR.
