    Mother’s Day is just around the corner. The holiday has its roots in the early 1900s, which was when Anna Reeves Jarvis had a memorial service to celebrate her late mother. Anna held the first Mother’s Day celebration in 1908 at a Methodist church in West Virginia. Jarvis, as well as other women, launched a letter-writing campaign in 1912, in the hopes of making Mother’s Day an actual holiday. President Woodrow Wilson signed a measure in 1914 that officially established the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day.
