The Pass Christian boys and girls both will be the top seeds in the upcoming Region 8-4A Tournament.
The Lady Pirates finished region play with a perfect 8-0 mark, after beating visiting Greene County 53-50 Friday night to complete league play. The PCHS girls are 18-7 overall on the season.
The Lady Pirates will finish out the regular season with a pair of games against two formidable foes this coming week, as they host D’Iberville on Tuesday and travel to Carriere to meet Pearl River Central on the road Friday. The region tournament starts on Monday, Feb., 7th at Bay high.
In addition to their eight league wins, the PCHS girls already have some impressive wins against higher classification competition as well this season, as the Lady Pirates have beaten Gautier and West Harrison twice each as well as Picayune, Long Beach and St. Martin once apiece also.
Both Gautier and West Harrison each went unbeaten in their respective Class 5A region races as well this year, as has D’Iberville whom PCHS will face for the only time this season this week.
The Pass Christian boys captured the top seed in the region on Friday thanks to a 64-50 win over Greene County at home. The Pirates of veteran head coach Buddy Kennedy stand 19-7 overall and 7-1 in region play, with their only loss in league action coming to Moss Point recently.

That win vaulted the Tigers at that point into a first-place tie with the Pass, but Bay High beat MPHS Friday 45-41 Friday to drop the Tigers to 6-2 in the league. Moss Point, who got a game-high 27 points from Kedrick Osby in the loss and five steals from Alejandro Montalvo, will now be the second seed in the region tournament while the Bay High Tigers will be the third seed.
Jaden Clark had 19 points, seven rebounds and four steals for Bay and Avan Wilson added 16 points and seven rebounds as well.
The Bay High girls beat MPHS 30-11 Friday to earn the second seed behind PCHS in the upcoming region tourney, as Kiara Burney scored nine points in the win for the Lady Tigers.
Both Moss Point squads will finish out regular season play with a pair of games at home this week, facing Biloxi on Tuesday and arch-rival Pascagoula on Friday before the Tigers and Lady Tigers return to the Tigerdome at Bay High for the region tourney.
Meanwhile, both Bay High teams will host Picayune Tuesday before closing out region play at Stone on Friday.
Just like the PCHS girls, the Pirates will close out the regular season by hosting D’Iberville on Tuesday and then traveling to PRC on Friday.
