In-state foes Southern Miss and Ole Miss will square off Saturday in men’s basketball action on the hardwood in the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.

    Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.

This marks the third time to two college basketball programs have met on a neutral site in Biloxi. The last time these two teams faced off in the regular season was in 2011.

At 6-5, the Golden Eagles are in the midst of an up-and-down season but are coming off a thrilling road win over Lamar University on Tuesday night.

After the Cardinals tied the game at 67-all, guard Mo Arnold drained a clutch 3-pointer from the corner with 25 to play. The Golden Eagles nailed some huge free throws down the stretch to pull out the 82-79 win.

Austin Crowley, who netted his 1,000th career point during the contest, paced Southern Miss with 22 points, while Arnold added 15 points. Andre Curbelo, playing in his first game as a Golden Eagle since being cleared by the NCAA, chipped in 13 points and dished out six assists.

Ole Miss, which has gotten off to one of the best starts in school history, ran their perfect record to 11-0 Tuesday night with a 74-53 over Troy.

For the fourth time in school history and the first time since the 2000-01 season, the Rebels are 11-0, which is tied for the fifth-longest overall streak to start a season in school history.

Playing on his 22nd birthday, Matthew Murrell had his first career double-double to lead No. 25 Ole Miss. The senior guard scored 18 points and broke the Ole Miss record for steals in a game with 10.
Jaemyn Brakefield and Jaylen Murray added 17 and 16 points, respectively, for the Rebels, while Allen Flanigan was also in double digits with 13 points.

Tickets for Saturday’s contest can be purchased through the Mississippi Coast Coliseum ticket office and Ticketmaster.
