    Jackson County fair celebrates centennial October 17-24

    Jackson County Fairgrounds on Shortcut Road in Pascagoula is a flurry of activity as Jackson County Mississippi Employees prepare for the 100th Annual Blue-Ribbon Fair, October 17-24.

    After its one-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Blue-Ribbon fair will operate under State and County safety protocols with a new “no contact” payment system for rides, midway attractions, and games called “Magic Money.”

    “Our fair vendor for over 50 years, Vinson Amusements, has made a tremendous investment in the ‘Magic Money’ machines to reduce contact with exchange of money on the midway,” said Fair Board President Alan Smith. “Fairgoers will purchase the cards from one of 20 machines on the fairgrounds and pre-load with cash or credit/debit card,” said Smith. Cards are reloadable using the ‘Magic Money’ app or visiting a machine.” 

    The weeklong celebration will feature arts & crafts, a variety of food booths, livestock displays, carnival rides and attractions, and a Business Expo in the Civic Center. Nightly entertainment on the Civic Center stage will feature Danny “Elvis” Rand, the Upbeat Line Dancers, Studio of Creative Dance, and performances from the MS Songwriters Alliance. Saturday night will feature a Fireworks show.

    Food Booths Open Monday, Oct 18 to Sunday, Oct 24

    Rides Open at 4:00 pm Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday

    Rides Open at 2:00 pm Tuesday, Friday

    Rides Open at 11:00 am Saturday and 12:30 pm Sunday

    Midnight Madness Friday 11:00pm – 2:00am

    Civic Center Open Monday through Saturday 9:00 am – 9:00 pm

    Barn Opens to the public Monday at 8:00 am

    Arts Building Opens to the public Tuesday at 7:00 pm

    Arts Building and Barn Open Wednesday-Sunday 9:00 am – 9:00 pm

    Old Settlers Day Thursday – Registration 9:00 am – 11:00 am, featuring the Upbeat Line Dancers from the Sr Citizens Center (11 am & 4 pm)

    Dog Show Friday 6:30 pm – Registration 5:00 pm at Barn

    Fireworks Show – Saturday Night at 9:00 pm

    Youth Livestock Show – Saturday 1:00 pm Barn

     

    NIGHTLY ENTERTAINMENT ON THE CIVIC CENTER STAGE 6:00 pm

    Monday – Danny Rand “Elvis” Show

    Tuesday – Dance Recital featuring local dance studios
