Coastal Mississippi in the fall is a time for after school sports, SEC and family. In a fast-paced world, staying busy and stressed are accepted as the norm. Everyone is guilty of not investing in self-care. Yoga may be just the element to add to the fall season’s slate of activities. At Downtown Yoga Ocean Springs, there are classes available that work with all schedules, levels of knowledge and desired dedication to the practice.

Yoga is the perfect way to slow down and reconnect the mind and body – increasing energy, metabolism and respiration. Downtown Yoga Ocean Springs offers a variety of classes for any aspiring yoga practitioner.  The Quick Flow Lunchtime yoga offered noon on Monday, Wednesday and Friday is perfect for those with busy schedules trying to maximize their lunch hour. Beginner Essentials or Gentle Flow offered at various times is perfect for beginners; these are more educative and mild classes. Additionally, the studio offers Vinyasa Flow a flow that varies in intensity from fast-paced to aerobic to mellow. Restorative Yoga encompasses multiple variations of poses to target deeper muscle layers to relax and relieve tension in the body.

The staff at Downtown Yoga Ocean Springs offers different areas of focus and instruction great for any seasoned yogi or beginner. It is a space that invites relaxation and encouragement to all those who cross the threshold. It may seem overwhelming to add another commitment to the list, but managing health and wellness like a work or social schedule can ultimately be enriching to our own lives and to those around us.

“You will feel good after one class; however, a continuous dedication to the movement and breathing practice is what will offer the stress reduction and flexibility a lot of people are searching for,” says Ellen Perkins, owner of Downtown Yoga Ocean Springs. Perkins is an excellent guide when it comes to selecting a class that will fit a particular schedule and level of knowledge. She is a graduate of Wild Lotus Yoga’s Soul School of New Orleans. Her focus is inspired by a deep knowledge of a variety of approaches including Ashtanga, Jivamukti, and Iyengar methods, giving variety to all of her students.

Right now, there is a new student special for one month of unlimited yoga that includes two buddy passes for $39. If you are looking to gain more insight before committing to a class a drop-in session is available for $15. For more information, visit www.downtownyogaoceansprings.com.
