On December 1, the George County Center hosted the first Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Lineman Rodeo Competition.  Students in the Apprentice Electric Lineman program at the George County Center and students in the Electric Lineworker Training program in Gulfport competed in six events.  Thirty-six students participated.

The purpose of the rodeo was to allow students to meet, network, show off their skills, and have a friendly competition. The two programs plan to make the rodeo an annual event.

The winners are as follows: Graceson Patterson, Speed Individual Event, 18 seconds on a 40-foot pole; George County Center students (whole class competition), Speed Team Event, 28 seconds average on a 40-foot pole; Hunter Adams, Jared Bradshaw, and Hayden Cooley, Cross Arm Event; Jared Bradshaw, Pole Top Insulator Event; William Taylor and Conner Walley, Dead End Insulator; Mason Howard and Colby Kahi, Fuse Cutout Switch Event.
