Famed entertainment guru Patty Roper will present “Tea-Time Hospitality” in Lucedale on April 30.

The event is sponsored by the Ivy League Garden Club of Lucedale. Tickets are $20 and include lunch. The club will use proceeds from event sales to fund projects for city and county beautification projects.

The event will begin at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church Activities Building, 5101 Main Street, Lucedale. It is expected to finish by early afternoon. Seating is limited; reservations can be made by contacting Katri Welford by phone at 601-508-0947 or via email at [email protected].

Roper is known throughout the state for her recipe and entertainment advice books and for her role as editorial director for Mississippi Magazine. She gives easy-to-use instructions for simple approaches to entertaining family and friends. Although simple, her decorating and serving ideas are elegant and refined. Her advice is fitting for all ages whether one is new or seasoned to entertaining. She will share innovative decorating ideas along with a luncheon prepared by garden club members using recipes from her cookbooks. Roper has authored six books: Easy Hospitality, Easy Does It Entertaining, At the Table with Patty Roper, Easy Parties and Wedding Celebrations, Easy Does It Winners and Favorites, and Easy Hospitality at Home. At Mississippi Magazine, she shares tips in the publication’s departments of Easy Does It Entertaining, Easy Does It Projects, Patty’s Picks and Patty Loves.

A native Jacksonian, Roper studied at the University of Mississippi and taught elementary school in the Jackson Public Schools. She is a member of First Presbyterian Church where she has served on the decorations committee, the flower committee, the missions conference, and the receptions committee. She has served on other committees with First Presbyterian Day School, Jackson Preparatory School, Art for Heart, the Gallery Guild of the Mississippi Museum of Art, the Symphony League, several garden clubs, Bible studies, and various volunteer organizations.
