Mississippi State one win away from program’s first national championship

    Go ahead and start manifesting.

After bouncing back last night in a 13-2 win over Vanderbilt and forcing a Game 3 of the CWS Championship Series, the Mississippi State Bulldogs are just one win away from the program’s first national championship banner.

If State can win on Wednesday night, it won’t just be the baseball program’s first national championship. It’ll be the first national championship in school history—for any team sport. How amazing would that be.

As I mentioned in my Tuesday column, if the Bulldogs were able to pull out a Game 2 victory (which they easily did), the cards would be stacked in their favor for a winner-take-all game.

Yes, Kumar Rocker is taking the mound for the Commodores, and there is no other player in all of college baseball like Kumar Rocker—even Chris Lemonis mentioned that in his press conference last night when he said, “(Rocker) is probably one of the best to ever play college baseball.”

However, Mississippi State has its 1-2 All-American punch of ace Will Bednar and standout closer Landon Sims. Not to mention that both are more than rested as Lemonis hasn’t had to use either yet in this series.

Say Bednar and Sims pitch like they did in the opening round versus Texas and the Bulldog bats have a little steam leftover from last night, the trophy that bears “National Champion” will be heading to Starkville for the first time ever.
