JGRLS Highlights ABCmouse and Adventure Academy as July E-Resources of the Month
PASCAGOULA, MS — As summer continues and families begin preparing for a new school year, the Jackson-George Regional Library System (JGRLS) is encouraging parents, caregivers, and homeschool families to take advantage of two powerful educational resources available free with a library card: ABCmouse and Adventure Academy.
Whether children are enjoying the final weeks of summer break, preparing for their first day of school, or getting ready for a homeschool curriculum, these online learning platforms provide engaging educational experiences that help students build confidence and strengthen essential academic skills.
ABCmouse is designed for children ages 2–8+ and offers more than 8,500 learning activities covering reading, math, science, social studies, art, and music. The program uses games, books, songs, videos, and puzzles to make learning fun while helping young learners develop a strong educational foundation.
For older students, Adventure Academy provides an immersive educational world designed for children ages 8–13. Combining curriculum-based learning with adventure, exploration, and social interaction, Adventure Academy helps students practice reading, math, science, and language arts skills while participating in quests and activities that make learning exciting.
“July is a transition month for many families,” said the JGRLS Marketing Team. “Some are enjoying the last weeks of summer vacation, while others are beginning to plan for the upcoming school year or homeschool programs. ABCmouse and Adventure Academy offer engaging ways for children to continue learning, prevent summer learning loss, and start the new school year with confidence.”
Research has shown that students who regularly use educational programs during the summer can maintain and even improve their academic skills. ABCmouse has been recognized as an effective tool for helping children avoid the “summer slide” and continue developing literacy and math skills during school breaks.
As part of the July E-Resource Highlight campaign, JGRLS branches will promote ABCmouse and Adventure Academy through library displays, staff recommendations, social media outreach, and community engagement efforts. Library staff are available to help patrons learn more about accessing these resources and finding educational tools that best fit their family’s needs.
Both ABCmouse and Adventure Academy are available at no cost to eligible patrons through the Jackson-George Regional Library System.
For more information about these resources and other digital learning opportunities available through JGRLS, visit www.JGRLS.org or contact your local library branch.
