Bargain hunters, collectors, and curious passersby will soon have a reason to roam the streets of Hattiesburg’s historic district neighborhood. The Avenues Wide Yard Sale is set to return on August 9, 2025 at 8:00 AM, bringing with it a full day of community charm and front-yard finds. Stay updated on their official Facebook page.

The Avenues Wide Yard Sale has become a fan favorite tradition for many across the Pine Belt. During the event, neighbors throughout the Avenues set up shop outside their homes, offering a wide variety of secondhand goods—from furniture and books to clothing, tools, vintage items, and unexpected treasures you didn’t know you needed until you saw them.

The event typically spans several blocks, giving shoppers plenty of ground to cover. With early morning foot traffic and steady crowds through the afternoon, the neighborhood transforms into a walkable maze of deals, friendly faces, and the kind of hospitality the Hub City is known for.

While the event isn’t hosted by a single group or organization, residents coordinate through word of mouth and local social media pages. Some households even join forces for group sales, offering larger selections and creating a lively, market-like atmosphere along the sidewalks and driveways.

This year’s August sale is expected to draw a strong turnout—especially if the weather cooperates (fingers crossed). Visitors are encouraged to arrive early and to bring small bills and reusable bags. In addition to this— wear your most comfortable walking shoes to prepare for a day of walking. Parking is available on side streets, but navigating by foot is the most efficient way to partake in all the offerings.

The Avenues neighborhood, known for its mix of historic homes and neighborly spirit, provides a perfect backdrop for this event. Whether you’re a longtime local or new to Hattiesburg, the yard sale offers a chance to explore the area, meet residents, and maybe even find your next favorite thing.

If you’re a longtime attendee of this event, or if you’ve only been once before, let us know some of your best suggestions to make navigating this yard sale easier. Feel free to comment on Our Mississippi Home’s Facebook page.
