Spring Fling at Landrum’s Homestead and Village Set for Saturday

With the beautiful flowers and trees blooming everywhere, there’s no doubt that spring is finally here, and what better way to celebrate this lovely season than a festival dedicated to all the delights of spring in the South?

Landrum’s Homestead and Village in Laurel is hosting its first-ever Spring Fling for everyone to enjoy the Spring season and Easter holiday on Saturday, April 1, 2023.

“This is our first year of hosting the Spring Fling,” Makenzi Ross, Marketing and Media Director for Landrum’s Homestead and Village, said. “We have done festivals in the past in the spring, but they’ve never offered all of the things that this event is going to offer. This is going to be an exciting first year of adding this new festival.”

Landrum’s Homestead and Village is well known for its fall and Christmas festivals which have become family traditions for families around Mississippi and neighboring states that make trips to these festivals a major family tradition.

“We wanted to add another one for the spring for the family to get outside, spend time together, make memories, and that’s how the ideas for the Spring Fling came about,” Ross said. “Our vision at Landrum’s is that we want to generate those Hallmark movie-type memories that are cozy, timeless, in a family-friendly environment where family and friends know that they can come together year after year and have a great time. So, that was our vision for creating the Spring Fling by creating a new major festival in the spring.”

Spring Fling will bring many new and exciting events to the already fun atmosphere of Landrum’s Homestead and Village. According to Ross, this event will be bringing “a few different things” that everyone will enjoy. The Easter Bunny will also be coming, and a professional photographer will be taking photos of everyone for $10 for one photo and $25 for three photos.

“We’re asking everyone to come out in their Easter best to get their photos taken which will be digitally delivered after the photos are taken,” Ross said. “We are also having an arts and crafts festival, and we handpicked incredible artisans from all over the state of Mississippi. Everything is all handmade so we don’t have any vendors that are reps for companies or suppliers. We really wanted to get people that are actually using their hands and using their creativity and creating things and supporting those artisans in our community and around the state.”

On top of the Easter Bunny’s appearance, there will be pony rides and barnyard animals for the kids to enjoy. There will be wagon rides for free, and you can take a beautiful ride around the nature trails which are always fun for everyone. The gem mine will be open which is always a fan favorite and face painting will be available.

“We’re going to have amazing food. We have our very own homemade ice cream made from our ice cream truck,” Ross said. “We’ll have funnel cakes. The Smokehouse will be open, and they will have delicious burgers, sausage dogs, and all kinds of great foods, so you can definitely come and have a great lunch.”

Tickets for this year’s Spring Fling are $12 with those three and under admitted free of charge. All tickets are sold at the door for this event. The good times will roll from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Landrum’s Homestead and Village located at 1356 Highway 15 South in Laurel.
